Editing Process

In my opinion the editing process is the most crucial part in making the film opening as am allowed to tamper with the footage to my liking and make something seem completely different. In order to carry out this task I have used the software called 'Final Cut.' Final Cut is an editing program that exposes of various features in order to alternate the footage.

Adding  the titles to the timeline

Through the process of editing, I found adding sound was the hardest part for me. I used the website audionetwork.lgfl.org.uk  to find the right music track that represents what is being showed.

In my opening I have used two music tracks. One of them is meant to represent happiness and time that’s why I have chosen ‘Passing Time.’ For the other action and running part I had to makes sure that it added energy to the scene so, I went for the music track ‘War of the Machines.

In order to add the music tracks in Final Cut I had to download it to the computer and play the music track on iTunes and then importing it into Final Cut.

Fading the music track in and out was the difficult part for me, as it was confusing for me due to that I still didn't know, how much I can do with the sound in Final Cut. Therefore, I went to seek on the effects button in order to find an audio transition. I did find it I decided to embed ‘cross fade’

Furthermore, as the opening is a half flash back I also added a special effect. Which connotes time as the flash back shots are not as clear as of her crying. I decided to blur out the shots however, I had to make sure that it was not too blurred out to the extent that the characters were unseen able.

Problems and Solutions- On the 22nd

On the day of 22nd there were numerous problems such as one of the actors was unable to come. Therefore, I had to find a replace fast, my first thoughts was to get my brother involved however; he looked too young for the role. Unfortunately, I could not find a replace that was suitable so had to make a quick decision of keeping the group to four members.

Another great problem was the lighting. It was a sunny day which to some degree it was good for filming however, it did create lots of shadows that we did not want. Also the sunshine was directly beaming on the actors making it difficult to act as well as to make sure that when shooting we can see their faces clearly.

Props

To create an authentic scene of a group of teenagers hanging out, I had to make sure that I used props such as crisp, chocolates and to bring the romance into the opening I brought strawberries. and other fruit.

In addition, for the other half of the film opening it is going to be shot in an office. Meaning that I need to set up the school office into an agent’s office. I did this by going on-line get selecting and printing out police document as well as mug shots of people. I also went along to WH Smith buy a packet of files and drew on them SIS (Secret Intelligence Service) and MI6 logo.

Infomation for the actors

In order for the actors to know what to wear and what to say I created  a power point and sent it to them by email, so when it come to the 22nd  they know exactly what they should be doing.

I have trouble sending the power point as it did not allow me to up load and send it away.  Therefore I change the format in a PDF.
